Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (code FLL) are in close proximity to one another; they are less than 4 miles apart. The short drive is approximately ten minutes between the two. The airport is well-connected to various cities across the United States and the world, with major airlines operating frequent flights to destinations in North America, Latin America, and Europe. Popular airlines that operate out of Fort Lauderdale Airport include American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. While this is an affordable way to get to the ship, we think it might be a bit overwhelming for out-of-towners. The new Brightline Express is not conveniently located for either Fort Lauderdale Airport or Port of Miami.
One of the unique features of the terminal is that it’s setup for Princess’ Ocean Medallion service, which is a wearable device that can replace your room keycard. The terminal offers 85,000 square feet of space, including about 21,000 square feet for passenger waiting, so you should never feel cramped. When it comes to convenience, it’s hard to beat the location of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Sitting right at the edge of the Atlantic, ships can leave from the port and be in the open water in a matter of minutes. Once you arrive in the area, follow the signs to your specific cruise terminal for drop-off points. Though it doesn't offer a complimentary shuttle service, it's available for a low cost per person.
We will say that we’ve caught flights considerably earlier, however. Las Olas BeachFort Lauderdale’s beaches are some of the nicest in the world, and the heart of the beach is Las Olas. Just north of the port, it’s a large, wide white-sand beach with lots of facilities and lined with restaurants and shops. Even if you don’t go to the beach, it’s a good idea to at least take a stroll on the waterfront to get a feel for what Fort Lauderdale has to offer.

A family of four taking a $37 transfer each way from the Miami airport to Port Everglades would pay $296 to get back and forth! The upside of a taxi is that there should be no wait in order to get a ride. You simply arrive, and head to the taxi stand to be on your way. If you see a long line at the rideshare station, consider just using a cab. Thankfully, given the location its relatively simple to get there.
